A Minister or office holder holds office until his or her commission ceases, or the Minister or office holder dies.
Any additional resources provided to you as a Minister or office holder cease when you cease to hold that office, as summarised below.
Ministerial and Parliamentary Services will write to you when your appointment ceases, setting out the changes to your parliamentary business resources.
Salary and Allowances
Ministerial salary, office holder salary and higher rates of travel allowance cease immediately when your commission is resigned or revoked. If you simultaneously cease to be a parliamentarian, your base salary and allowances as a parliamentarian also cease. See Remuneration for additional information.
Information relating to the termination of employment of a former Minister or office holder’s personal, electorate and APS employees is available in Cessation of Employment.
Where there is a change in your circumstances, it is recommended that advice on the consequences for your employees be sought from Ministerial and Parliamentary Services.
