COVID-19 Update 8 July 2020

You can keep up to date on the on the latest response to the coronavirus in your state or territory by visiting the Australian Government website or by using the COVID-19 Restriction Checker.

You may be aware that yesterday the Victorian Government announced the return to stay at home restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire to take effect 11:59pm Wednesday 8 July 2020.

There are some exceptions including if you are required to study or work and are unable to do so from your home. At this stage the restrictions will be in place for six weeks, until Wednesday 19 August 2020.

As noted in Circular 2020/02, parliamentarians are able to approve working from home and leave arrangements related to COVID-19. The Minister does not need to approve these working from home arrangements.

Each jurisdiction is at a different phase in responding to COVID-19 and has determined its own requirements in relation to work related travel. We have provided a link above for you to check the information on restrictions for your state or territory.

During this period MaPS is here to support you and provide advice where required. Please remember confidential counselling is available from the EAP to all staff, their family and household members.  Comcare continue to publish updated advice and information on COVID-19 including support for those working from home and transitioning back to the workplace.

If you have any queries about safe work during this phase please contact mpshelp@finance.gov.au.
