From 1 July 2015, all Senators and Members have an electorate support budget. The employment of relief electorate employees and the travel of electorate employees is subject to the electorate support budget.

All Senators and Members Four full-time electorate employee positions. A Senator or Member can also engage relief electorate employees subject to the limits of his or her electorate support budget.
Members provided with an additional electorate office An additional full-time electorate employee position at the Electorate Officer B classification, to be located in the additional electorate office.

Where an additional electorate employee position has been allocated, additional funding for relief staff is calculated as part of the electorate support budget.

Independent Senators and Members Personal employee positions allocated at the discretion of the Prime Minister.

Employees' Travel
All Senators and Members Electorate employee travel within Australia (excluding the external territories) on official business as directed by the employing Senator or Member, including travelling allowance for each overnight stay away from the employee’s work base, within the limits of the electorate support budget. The employees of a Senator or Member with an entitlement to travel to an external territory may also travel on official business as directed by their employing Senator or Member to that external territory.
Independent Senators and Members Personal employee travel within Australia on official business as directed by the employing Senator or Member, including travelling allowance for each overnight stay away from the employee’s work base. Personal employee travel is not subject to the limits of the electorate support budget.
