Electorate Office, Equipment and Facilities
All Senators and Members Office accommodation, as approved by the Special Minister of State, located within the Senator’s state/territory or Member’s electorate, including equipment and facilities (including for any personal staff based in the electorate office) necessary to operate the office.

Office information and communication technology equipment and facilities necessary to operate the office, as approved by the Presiding Officers.

Members representing an electorate in excess of 25,000km2 in area A second electorate office within the Shadow Ministers’ electorate, as approved by the Special Minister of State, including equipment and facilities necessary to operate the office.

Additional Office Equipment and Facilities
All Shadow Ministers One recording device such as a multi-function television, DVD, video or hard drive recorder, or a combination recording device, up to a limit of $600 (excluding GST) per device for the Shadow Minister’s electorate office.

Office Budget
Note:

From 1 July 2015, all Senators and Members have an office budget. All purchases under the following entitlements are met from, and are subject to the limits of, the office budget:

  1. office requisites and stationery
  2. publications
  3. printing and communications
  4. flags under the constituents’ request program
  5. software.
All Senators The office budget is equivalent to the sum of:
  1. $11,500
  2. $86,271 for 2015-16 (indexed annually).
Members representing an electorate with a demographic rating, as determined by the Australian Electoral Commission, of Inner Metropolitan or Outer Metropolitan The office budget is equivalent to the sum of:
  1. $86,500
  2. $44, 416 for 2015-16 (indexed annually)
  3. the standard rate of postage multiplied by the number of enrolled voters (within the electoral boundaries of the Member’s electorate as in place at the last general election), as at the last working day in the March before the financial year (or, if an electorate comes into existence after the last working day in March of a calendar year, the number of enrolled voters, within the boundaries of the Member’s electorate, as at the close of the electoral roll for the last general election).
Members representing an electorate with a demographic rating, as determined by the Australian Electoral Commission, of Provincial or Rural The office budget is equivalent to the sum of:
  1. $86,500
  2. $45,751 for 2015-16 (indexed annually)
  3. the standard rate of postage multiplied by the number of enrolled voters (within the electoral boundaries of the Member’s electorate as in place at the last general election), as at the last working day in the March before the financial year (or, if an electorate comes into existence after the last working day in March of a calendar year, the number of enrolled voters, within the boundaries of the Member’s electorate, as at the close of the electoral roll for the last general election).

Office Requisites and Stationery
All Senators and Members Office requisites and stationery as approved by the Special Minister of State, subject to the remaining funds in the Senator or Member’s office budget up to a maximum of $50,000 per financial year.

Publications, including electronic publications, subject to the remaining funds in the Senator or Member’s office budget.

Printing and Communications
Note:

In addition to the following entitlement, all Senators and Members are entitled to the cost of transferring bulk papers between his or her electorate and Parliament House offices.

All Senators and Members Cost of commercial services for printing, the production of e-material (including design, artwork, photography and translation) and the production and maintenance of audio posters for parliamentary or electorate purposes, distribution of printed, e-material and audio posters, and the establishment and maintenance of websites, subject to the remaining funds in the Senator or Member’s office budget.

Residential Telephones
All Senators and Members Two telephone lines in a Senator or Member’s private residence, or one telephone line in each of a Senator or Member’s two private residences, including all call costs, line rental, transfer costs and the installation, maintenance and rental of an answering service or equipment of a type specified by the Special Minister of State. Where a Senator or Member elects to dedicate one of these two telephone lines as a data line, the line will be installed and maintained, including the provision of the data service at the highest speed available at the Senator or Member’s residence.
