Claiming office expenses
The Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 imposes overarching obligations.
The dominant purpose and value for money tests and specified conditions must be met. See s25, 26, 27, 28.
The Commonwealth is not liable to pay an expense or provide a public resource where you contravene any of these obligations (s29, PBR Act).
Parliamentary Expenses Management System (PEMS)
PEMS allows parliamentarians and their staff to create, certify and manage office and travel expense claims online.
PEMS can be used from any computer or mobile device with an internet connection and allows for digital certification of expense claims instead of signing and scanning paper forms.
Parliamentarians and staff can register for PEMS by using the email address on file with the Department of Finance. To confirm or update your email address, email firstname.lastname@example.org
