Resources for offices
The Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 imposes overarching obligations.
The dominant purpose and value for money tests and specified conditions must be met. See s25, 26, 27, 28.
The Commonwealth is not liable to pay an expense or provide a public resource where you contravene any of these obligations (s29, PBR Act).
The Minister may determine that the following resources are to be provided for the conduct of your parliamentary business in your electorate, Ministerial or office holder office. These resources must not be used for any commercial purpose:
- furniture, fittings, equipment and facilities including audio visual equipment
- office information and communications technology and services
- car parking
- security - office and information
- post office boxes
Office information and communications technology and services, other than fixed line telephones, are provided by the Department of Parliamentary Services under the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 framework.
Resources may be provided by portfolio departments to the offices of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and presiding offices outside the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 framework.
