Assets register of office furniture and equipment
The Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 imposes overarching obligations.
The dominant purpose and value for money tests and specified conditions must be met. See s25, 26, 27, 28.
The Commonwealth is not liable to pay an expense or provide a public resource where you contravene any of these obligations (s29, PBR Act).
Ministerial and Parliamentary Services (MaPS) maintains an official assets register of the furniture and equipment (such as capitalised, and portable and attractive items) it has provided to you and carries out regular stocktakes.
All items of furniture and equipment provided at Commonwealth expense remain the property of the Commonwealth. This includes items purchased from your annual budget for office expenses.
- not remove furniture or large items of office equipment from your electorate office
- return portable items of equipment, as advised by MaPS, when your eligibility for that equipment ceases
- not dispose of any items of furniture or equipment. All disposal of Commonwealth property must be undertaken by MaPS State Managers
- report lost, damaged or stolen items to your MaPS State or Territory Manager.
