Post Office Boxes
Overarching obligations
The Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 imposes overarching obligations.
The dominant purpose and value for money tests and specified conditions must be met. See s25, 26, 27, 28.
The Commonwealth is not liable to pay an expense or provide a public resource where you contravene any of these obligations (s29, PBR Act).
A post office box for your electorate (or ministerial or office holder) office is provided for your parliamentary business. It must not be used for commercial purposes.
Administration
You may have a post office box for each office which is outside Parliament House and the Commonwealth Parliament Offices. Value for money includes considering the smallest sized PO box to meet your needs. It must not be used for commercial purposes, such as using it as the return address for a business.
Contact your Ministerial and Parliamentary Services State Office to arrange your post office box.
