Professional Development Program upcoming course

MaPS provides free learning and development training and resources to MOP(S) Act employees through the Professional Development Program (PDP).

The program offers a range of topics to enhance your skills and knowledge including on demand training that can be completed at any time.

What's new? 

Face to Face Induction: State Roadshow
New to MOP(S) Act employment? 

The half day face-to-face induction program commenced in August with sessions still available in the ACT, WA, SA and NT Commonwealth Parliament Offices (CPOs). The sessions focus on understanding workplace behaviours and responsibilities, WHS obligations as well as employment arrangements under the MOP(S) Act and enterprise agreement, and workplace support options available.

You are also encouraged to complete the Induction Foundation Module in the first few weeks of your employment. The foundation module will provide you with introductory information relating to your employment under the MOP(S) Act.

Designed by Reconciliation Australia, Share our Pride is aims to take participants on an awareness-raising journey, providing insight into life from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspective, why the past matters and some keys to serving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander customers well.

Participants will understand their right and responsibilities in the workplace, what constitutes unacceptable behaviour and how to respond to serious incidents and when they occur.

Accidental Counsellor

This program has been developed  for people who find themselves in situations where counselling or empathetic communication is required. You'll be provided with a range of tried and tested counselling skills that work to create effective communication and de-escalate clients who are in crisis. 

This workshop is delivered over two days. 

Senate seminar series

This session is designed to introduce the Senate’s committee system to participants who prepare submissions, evidence, or other information for Senate committees. It provides an overview of the powers and operation of different types of Senate committees. Participants will receive practical strategies for monitoring and engaging with different aspects of the committee process.

On demand training and resources

Suicide awareness – LivingWorks Start Program

You'll learn how to keep someone safe from suicide and connect them with help and support. This program teaches valuable skills and requires no formal training or prior experience in suicide prevention. You will gain awareness, readiness and confidence to help people within your community.

PEMS Training

The Parliamentary Expenses Management System (PEMS) is a secure online portal for parliamentarians (including former Prime Ministers), MOP(S) Act employees to manage allowances, expenses and associated services.

ICT Training

You can access a range of on-demand and instructor-led ICT training services such as the Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft 365 suite.

LinkedIn Learning

To access, you need to submit the Online Access to ICT Training (LinkedIn Learning) form on the ParlICT website.
 

External learning

Have you recently completed professional development training outside of MOP(S) Learning?
