Formal work health and safety policies covering parliamentarians and MOP(S) Act employees are developed by MaPS, in consultation with the WHS Committee.

Information on the bullying and harassment policy can be found under safe and respectful workplaces.

First aid and emergency management policy

Parliamentarians, MOP(S) Act employees and MaPS share the responsibility for implementing and managing emergency management procedures and first aid services, including equipment, facilities and training. The first aid and emergency management policy:

  • clarifies who has responsibilities for first aid and emergency management
  • provides parliamentarians and MOP(S) Act employees with up-to-date information to assist them to fulfil their emergency management and first aid obligations
  • provide advice to parliamentarians and MOP(S) Act employees on how to manage first aid and emergency risks in the workplace.

Fatigue management policy

Fatigue affects all work places. MOP(S) Act employment has an increased number of risk factors for fatigue. Long hours, frequent travel and working in a high intensity environment can could lead to a greater risk of fatigue and fatigue‑related incidents.

The fatigue management policy is currently under review. Information on fatigue management is available from:
