Parliamentarians are covered for injuries or diseases suffered or aggravated in connection with the conduct of parliamentary business or other circumstances provided by the parliamentary injury compensation scheme.
The parliamentary injury compensation scheme is, as much as possible, equivalent to the compensation arrangements available to Commonwealth employees under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.
