Parliamentarians are covered for injuries or diseases suffered or aggravated in connection with the conduct of parliamentary business or other circumstances provided by the parliamentary injury compensation scheme.

The parliamentary injury compensation scheme is, as much as possible, equivalent to the compensation arrangements available to Commonwealth employees under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.

The Comcare website provides:

  • information about the scheme, including what to do if you suffer an injury or disease, or aggravate a pre-existing injury or disease, in connection with your covered activities
  • contact information.
