Office management: property

Offices and office resources provided under the Parliamentary Business Resources Act 2017 (PBR Act) must be used for the dominant purpose of conducting your parliamentary business and must not be used for any kind of commercial purpose. Usage must also meet your PBR obligations.

Office types and office resources

Parliamentarians may be provided with an electorate office, Ministerial office or office holder office, access to visiting suites at CPOs and may be eligible to claim expenses in relation to a privately leased electorate office for the dominant purpose of conducting their parliamentary business.

Commonwealth-provided or funded offices, must only be used for the dominant purpose of conducting your parliamentary business.

Furniture, equipment and office ICT

Your MaPS state or territory office arranges the supply, maintenance and replacement of office furniture and equipment as determined by the Minister for Finance for your electorate, ministerial or office holder office for the conduct of your parliamentary business.

Office maintenance

MaPS state and territory offices are responsible for managing all Commonwealth leases for electorate offices, Ministerial offices, office holder offices and CPOs. State and territory offices work closely with the contracted property provider to ensure offices are properly maintained.

Refurbishments and relocations

The Minister for Finance determines all office relocations and certain office refurbishments. MaPS provides the Minister with recommendations on suitable locations.
