MOP(S) Act employees may be granted leave without pay with the approval of their employing parliamentarian. The reason for leave must be included in the application.

Entitlements for leave without pay are outlined in the Enterprise Agreement and leave and public holidays guideline (see related resources).

Leave without pay can be taken for a number of reasons including parental leave (as provided under the Fair Work Act 2009), ceremonial leave or for the observance of religious holidays.  Leave without pay does not count as service for any purpose. Leave without pay may also affect eligibility for salary increments and retention payments in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement.
