Exceptional circumstances determinations
The Minister may determine that additional public resources relating to the conduct of your parliamentary business should be provided to you where exceptional circumstances justify the determination.
You are provided with insurance cover in relation to the conduct of your parliamentary business. This includes cover for items such as travel, injury, damage to property and employment practices.
Private-plated vehicles: parliamentarians
Parliamentarians may request, as part of their remuneration, a Commonwealth-leased private-plated vehicle (PPV) or additional electorate allowance in lieu of a vehicle. If you are a new parliamentarian, it is expected you will take over the use of your predecessor’s PPV until the end of its lease.
Canberra-based vehicles: parliamentarians
Certain office holders are eligible to request a self-drive vehicle for use in and around Canberra for their parliamentary business. Portfolio and parliamentary departments may provide Ministers, Assistant Ministers and Presiding Officers with a vehicle for use in Canberra.

Services to Ministers
Ministers are provided with support from several administrators within the Commonwealth.
Legal assistance to Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries
Ministers (and some former Ministers) may be eligible to receive assistance in meeting the cost of legal proceedings and inquiries against you which are related to your duties.
