Sex Discrimination Commissioner Kate Jenkins’ Set the Standard: Report on the Independent Review into Commonwealth Parliamentary Workplaces recommended a review of the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984 (MOP(S) Act).
The Prime Minister has commissioned the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) to lead the review of the MOP(S) Act which will identify legislative, policy or other changes or initiatives to ensure the employment arrangements of parliamentarians and their staff are fit for purpose. A final report will be provided to the Prime Minister by 30 September 2022.
PM&C are inviting input from current and former parliamentary staff, parliamentarians, staff representatives, relevant agencies and departments, and any other interested parties.
