This employment form should be used for Casual Employees engaged from 2 January 2025, to provide for new casual employment arrangements under the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2024-27 (MOPS EA).

For Casual Employees engaged prior to 2 January 2025, please complete the form, 117: Employing a Casual Employee (Employment up to 1 January 2025).

Please note: In accordance with clause 17.3 of the MOPS EA, a casual employee shall be engaged for at least 3 hours per engagement, or, be paid for a minimum of 3 hours per engagement, at the applicable rate.

When to use this form

The casual employment agreement (166 Form) is the employment agreement between the employing parliamentarian and casual employee. It is not used to document hours worked for payment.

A casual employee should complete a Record of Hours to document casual work undertaken. The Record of Hours is submitted retrospectively at the end of each fortnight.

Additional forms

You may be required to complete additional forms if this is the first time you are being employed under the MOP(S) Act, if you have had a break, or if this is a new office. Use the employment tool to identify which forms you should complete. Late or missing employment forms may delay your onboarding and pay.

Submission Requirements

Employment agreements are to be completed prior to, or on the date of, commencement.

  • Complete and submit the form online.
  • Your employer or authorised officer will receive a copy of the employment agreement via email. They must forward the agreement with their approval to MaPS for processing.
  • You will receive a copy of the agreement for your records.
  • At the end of each pay period, complete the Record of Hours form and submit to your employer or authorised officer for approval and submission to MaPS.
